Ozone Therapy is based on the variety of benefits that the gas has in our organism. The ozone works as anantioxidant; as an immunomodulatory therapy (it stimulates the white blood cells, which increases the defenses of the body against external aggressions, such as infections); it improves the function of the cells and the blood circulation. It is also a very powerful germicide: it eliminates fungus, bacterias and viruses.
These benefits are reflected in the amount of therapeutical applications of the ozone. From carcinomas, brain sclerosis and Parkinson’s, to cystitis, circulatory disorders, liver cirrhosis, hepatitis and gallbladder disease. It also treats rheumatic diseases in general, polyarthrosis, herniated discs, arthritis, thrombophlebitis and varicose veins, gangrene and diabetic ulcers, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, eczema, anal fissures and anal fistulas, hemorrhoids and genital infections.
Ozone is also used to treat skin: scars, wounds resistant to healing, skin in general (abscesses, fistulas, boils, acne, etc..), Burns, fungi in general, herpes simplex and zoster.
Ozone therapy is not an alternative medicine, it is considered a natural medicine. On the basis of all knowledge required for gas application, ozone treatments can be made regardless of the use of specific drugs or potential mistakes of them.
From this point of view, Ozone therapy has no side effects with other treatments.
Treatments are quick, effective and economical. They consist on a number of sessions that vary in amount and duration, depending on the condition being treated. Applications do not have adverse effects.
It can be injected intra-arterial, subcutaneous, and/or intramuscular.
Another method is by supplying auto-hemotransfusion, which consists of a blood extraction to which is added oxygen-ozone, it is mixed witht he blood and without removing the needle, is re-injected into the bloodstream. Rectal insufflation can also be performed by directly applying the gas through of a fine probe, like an enema.
Ozone is an unstable gas, it can be easily decomposed at a rate dependent on temperature. Because of this, it doesn’t leave toxic residues since it turns into oxygen once it enters the body.
Despite all their advantages, ozone therapy is contraindicated in acute alcohol poisoning, heart attack, allergies, ozone and pregnancy. These contraindications are due to the small increase in blood pressure.
